Introduction
2iC are specialist consultants
in the engineering and management disciplines that are required
to create reliable and efficient irrigation systems. The
practice was formed in 1999, to answer all the irrigation and
water questions that might be asked by golf course architects,
secretaries, landscape architects and agronomists. The name
2iC was adopted in 2001. The design of an irrigation system, as with
all quality construction projects, starts well in advance
of the arrival of contractors and manufacturers, and is built
on the solid foundations of site research and client needs.
2iC takes the initial concepts of irrigation and water needs,
and with a close regard to financial, environmental and efficiency
considerations, is committed to producing the best possible
system to meet all its clients' requirements.
2iC is regarded as one of the most able and innovative irrigation
consultancies and agencies in the industry.
Bill Hawthorn has been engineering
irrigation and water supply projects since 1960 in Africa,
Asia, Europe and America. He was the first person to install
a pop-up sprinkler on a golf course in the British Isles and
as founder, owner and later chairman of Watermation Ltd. was
directly responsible for many of the innovations that drove
the irrigation industry forward over the last three decades.
He was the pioneer of the two-wire irrigation control system
and one of the founders of the British Turf and Landscape
Irrigation Association - the self regulating body of the British
industry. He is also a Professional member of the American Society of Irrigation
Consultants. Bill is an acknowledged leader in the design
of pumping and hydraulic systems as well as earth bank
winter storage reservoirs.

Philosophy
The qualifications and experience
within 2iC provide a single-source solution to all irrigation
issues. At the heart of the practice is a dedication and commitment
to provide cost-conscious and trustworthy engineering advice
and designs. Both senior partners have extensive on site practice
at installing pipe work and sprinklers and putting together
pumping systems and control systems. This first hand experience
gives their designs a practical edge - drawings and specifications
are much more than just theory or mere sales tools.
2iC as a consultancy works
for its clients only and work is carried out with the overriding
premise that the client's interest is put first - above 2iC's,
and above any manufacturer or contractor. 2iC receives 100%
of its income through professional fees only. This core philosophy
leads to the development of a longstanding trust between the
practice and its clients. It means that 2iC Consultants are
not merely system specifiers but are empowered by their clients
to make qualified evaluations of contractors and manufacturers,
and present such facts in an unbiased and independent manner.
The effort afforded
to traditional 'design and build' techniques all too often
starts and ends where a contractor's return starts and ends.
2iC takes the irrigation concept through from its notional
origin to its long term operation and maintenance.
